Take a jilted bride, add a wounded-heart hero, and toss in a villain who would kill to be the next lady of the manor, and you have a tension-filled romance story with dynamic characters—On Silent Wings (1-60154-054-X), Trade paperback, 225 Pages, April 2007).

Dark and gothic, the story takes place during the Restoration Period in 1667 England, when the Great Fire of London had almost destroyed the city.  Unable to speak since the fire, a woman is sent to live in a castle under the guardianship of a brooding widower who, she discovers, may have killed his wife.  Alex’s growing desire to help Katherine regain her voice is not lost upon his unmarried neighbor, whose plan to marry Alex may be ruined.  When subtle, malicious twists threaten to destroy their growing trust and love, Katherine learns the real reason she was sent to Alex—and almost loses her life.

Pamela Roller, an English teacher in Augusta County, began writing novels in 2003.
